HOUSE Directors - Judy Stevens & Chris Lord
Judy Stevens and Chris Lord are the directors of HOUSE Festival, which they conceived in 2008 and first produced in 2009, to provide a visual arts element during Brighton Festival. In 2012 they applied for and were successful in achieving charitable status for HOUSE Festival.
Stevens and Lord are also the directors of Artists Open Houses (AOH) Ltd, which they formed in 2004 to coordinate and produce the Artists Open Houses festivals, annually in May and December.
Judy Stevens is Festival Director for both HOUSE and the Artists Open Houses (AOH) Festivals.
Chris Lord is Design and Development Director for both HOUSE and the Artists Open Houses (AOH) Festivals.
Chris Lord also has his own graphic design business, Graphic Detail.
Judy Stevens is a practicing artist, illustrator and print maker and is represented by NB Illustration.
Guest Curator - Celia Davies
Celia Davies is a curator, editor and producer. She is currently Director of Photoworks who produce the Brighton Photo Biennial, the UK’s largest curated photography festival.
Celia was previously Head of Exhibitions at the De La Warr Pavilion from 2002-2009. She has devised numerous contemporary solo and group exhibitions and major commissions of new work, profiling both international and UK based artists. More recent projects include co-curating Brighton Photo Biennial 2012,This Storm is What We Call Progress by Ori Gersht (2012), Imperial War Museum, London. Curated projects include Myth, Manners and Memory: Photographs of the American South including Walker Evans, William Eggleston, William Christenberry, Carrie Mae Weems, Susan Lipper and Alec Soth (2010), Beuys Is Here co-curated with Anthony d’ Offay (2009), Kenneth and Mary Martin,Constructed Works (2008) and Jeremy Deller (2006). Commissions include Mumuration Rinko Kawauchi and Brighton Picture Hunt Alec Soth (2010) Seascape Susan Collins (2009), PalaceNathan Coley (2008), It Starts From Here (2007), Motion Path Graham Ellard and Stephen Johnstone (2006) Variety including Brian Catling, Daria Martin, Mark Wallinger and Boyd Webb (2005) and Bridget Smith (2005).
She has been editor and contributing writer for numerous visual art publications including the Photoworks Monographs series, co-published with Steidl. She is co-editor of Photoworks Annual and Chair of Blast Theory.
Celia has been guest curator and visual arts advisor for HOUSE Festival since 2010.
