The Open Houses Open Exhibition is a curated, open-submissions exhibition, showcasing some of the most exciting work from artists and makers exhibiting in the Artists Open Houses festival.
This year the Open Houses Open Exhibition will be shown in the extraordinary Drawing Room, upstairs at The Regency Town House, a location much loved by artists and visitors for its distressed grandeur.
All artists exhibiting in the Artists Open Houses festival were invited to submit works, which broadly responded to this year’s exhibition theme of Translations. Submissions in any media, including painting, sculpture, photography, video, textiles, jewellery, ceramics were welcome.
Nearly ninety artists submitted more than 300 works for the exhibition and, as in previous years, only a small percentage of work could be selected. The wide variety and high quality of the submissions made the selection an enjoyable if often difficult process. The curators have focused on selecting work which stood out both conceptually and in its formal execution, and which resonated with the domestic setting of The Regency Town House.
The works on show reflect the vibrancy and dynamism, as well as the diversity in media and techniques, of art on show throughout the city in the Artists Open Houses.
We hope you will enjoy this exciting exhibition in a prominent location, where the selected work will be shown throughout the May festival period.
And dont forget to vote for your favourite atwork there in Visit Brighton's Visitors Choice Award.
The exhibition will be open on weekends
from the 3rd-25th May.
